No One Will Save You

Hey Fans! I’m back with another reel review! Today’s movie is “No One Will Save You”, it’s a Hulu original that first premiered September 19, 2023. The storyline centers around Kaitlyn Dever ( “Booksmart, Unbelievable, Booksmart”) a young homebody who has to battle an extraterrestrial in her home.

It begins with circles in her yard, leading to a revelation that she possibly is a target. Kaitlyn’s character , Bryn, drives into town to mail off a letter. She tries to make contact with a man who appears to be around her age , but he wears an expression on his face as if he does not want to interact with her, and she retreats. Later in the movie, Bryn is asleep in her bedroom and she is awakened by loud noises- she thinks someone is trying to break in. But as she slowly comes out of her room, she sees something she would not ever imagine. The sound of chattering, and a large oblong head are the first things she sees and hears. She comes to find her front door and the first floor of her house has been completely ransacked, damaged. Not only that , but she has an extraterrestrial walking around her home.

Bryn is silenced by fear as she tries to escape to her bedroom and hide from the alien. She accidentally makes a noise and the alien appears in her bedroom. Shaken with terror, she tries to hide underneath her bed. The monster now walks around her room and levitates by her bedroom window… Of course you guys know I don't want to spoil the surprising treat that is awaiting you if you chose to watch this thriller/horror film.

If I can give a comparison, off the top of my head, I would say , this film reminds me of the movie, “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” from 1978. It’s a Sci-fi/horror that’s based on the novel, “ The Body Snatchers” by Jack Finney. It involves a health inspector from San Francisco and his colleague who discover humans are being replaced by alien clones; each is perfectly like its host but in a zombie-like state, no emotions. Now, I know some people aren't too fond of “old” movies, but I recommend it as a classic, 10/10 even for that time period.

I will say it is frightening ( And I am not usually scared of movies at all) But my mouth was wide open ! If you dare give it a try, let me know what you think! See you next time!
