For my AHS fans, of course we all know American Horror Story Season 12 premiered Wednesday September 20, 2023. Over the years we have enjoyed a rollercoaster ride of thrills, gore, and magic from the amazing creators , Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk! But if you're new to the anthology series, welcome and enjoy the ride that is AHS!
So let’s get into it shall we? AHS Season 12 is named “Delicate”. Episode 1: Emma Roberts plays “Anna Victoria Alcott”, a new Hollywood A-list actress who is attempting to conceive with her husband “Dexter Harding”. It seems, unfortunately, that Anna’s pregnancy is far from normal. Anna encounters very strange occurrences on her journey to motherhood.
While attempting to balance her career and still desiring motherhood ,Anna’s husband makes her an appointment at a fertility clinic in the city to undergo an IVF procedure.
After the procedure is complete, Anna encounters a strange older woman who says she knows her, being that Anna is a new actress to the Hollywood scene , Anna assumes this lady knows her from her work as an actress. She thanks the weird women for watching, but the lady seems confused. Dressed in black, with a black bag that reads “Preech” she returns to the front desk where they are expecting her and Anna leaves the clinic .
After lunch with her husband, Anna returns home and pulls a very long string of hair from her head. The next day Anna meets with her best friend and agent who is played by the billionaire business woman, Kim Kardashian (no longer West). They discuss that Anna was asked to appear on the Andy Cohen show. Anna seems to have trouble keeping track of her fertility treatments and her fast moving career.
I don't want to spoil this entire episode for everyone , but as a movie buff, this season gives the vibes of “Rosemary’s Baby” and “False Positive”. Rosemary’s Baby is a 1960’s psychological horror film written and directed by the infamous Roman Polanski. This film was based on a novel with the same name. In this film Mia Farrow plays a young wife pregnant with her first child , who comes to suspect her neighbors are members of satanic cult and are grooming her in order to use her baby for satanic rituals.
“False Positive” is an Hulu original horror story. It’s about a woman who finds her dream fertility doctor. But after becoming pregnant with a baby girl, she starts to notice something off about her dream doctor, so she sets out to uncover the truth behind his million dollar smile.
